The Organisation

"STARTTS is a not-for-profit Affiliated Health Organisation focused on providing a broad range of services to refugees in NSW. The focus of STARTTS approach is on building capacity and empowering people and communities to take control over their own lives, using a strengths-based approach and building on individual, family, community and cultural strengths."

The Role

This position is responsible for delivery of STARTTS youth services; engaging young people in meaningful activities and programs that encourage participation in community, addresses barriers to engagement and foster skills development. Participating in STARTTS work with schools and youth and children’s services and supporting youth initiatives within various refugee communities.

The successful applicant will be part of a multicultural and multi-disciplinary team.

Skills Required

You will have relevant tertiary qualifications or significant experience in the area and demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with children and young people from refugee background. You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in community development, advocacy, partnership building and community liaison as well as an understanding of current legislation relevant to work with children and young people.

You will be a highly motivated person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively within a multicultural team setting.

  • Position No: 1038
  • Work Type: Full time, 38 hours per week. Contract up to June 2021. Continuation subject to funding.
  • Location: Carramar
  • Salary: Health Education Officer or other relevant classification based on qualifications, experience and requirements of the role. 

A generous salary packaging scheme is also offered, to reduce the taxable income and increase the take home pay.
