"STARTTS is a not-for-profit Affiliated Health Organisation focused on providing a broad range of services to refugees in NSW. The focus of STARTTS approach is on building capacity and empowering people and communities to take control over their own lives, using a strengths-based approach and building on individual, family, community and cultural strengths."
This role will increase mental health literacy and knowledge amongst parents and young people and will facilitate community conversations sessions. The process is a creative and powerful way of identifying how members of the community can come together to take leadership on matters related to the wellbeing of their youth, identify challenges and build capacity of the community to generate collective community solutions to enhance youth wellbeing.
The successful applicant will be part of a multicultural and multi-disciplinary team.
You will have relevant qualification or significant experience in community work, community development and group work as well as demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and evaluating groups in a cross-cultural context. You will have demonstrated experience in project management and an understanding of youth mental health systems and services in NSW and significant experience developing relationships both with internal and external stakeholders. You will also have knowledge of at least one community language spoken by communities from Syria and Iraq (spoken and written).
You will be a highly motivated person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively within a multicultural team setting.
