Stand Up: Jewish Commitment to a Better World

Purpose: As Jews we have a responsibility to improve our world. Stand Up exists to channel the collective energy, expertise and compassion of the Australian Jewish community to grasp and fulfil this responsibility.

Vision: Australian Jews realising a just Australia where everyone has the opportunity to thrive – unconstrained by attitudes and systems that entrench disadvantage.

Mission: Inspiring and mobilising the Australian Jewish community and working together with marginalised communities to tackle Australia’s most pressing social challenges through action and education.

This is a key strategic role responsible for the development, coordination and delivery of our social justice education programs for young Jewish Australians. Stand Up currently delivers a range of education programs throughout Melbourne and Sydney that are designed to engage and empower the next generation of young Jewish change makers.

We partner with schools, youth movements and other community organisations to deliver engaging, provocative and thoughtful programs on a range of social justice issues for young Jewish Australians. We add value by designing and delivering material that adds perspective and value for teachers, educators, students and community groups.

We also provide our Step-Up B’nei Mitzvah Program, which is designed to give Bnei Mitzvah aged students the opportunity to take a step up into their Jewish adulthood and to understand the responsibilities and challenges that come with that, grappling with these questions through an innovative social justice experience.

Step Up enhances the Bar/Bat Mitzvah year by providing a pivotal learning curve for students to gain a greater understanding of the world around them.
