ABOUT PEOPLE AND CULTURE

The People & Culture Team (PaC) partner with the business through a number of functions, including Work Health & Safety, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Organisational Development, Employee Services and Business Partnering. You will be joining a diverse team of highly engaged and driven individuals who strive to make a difference and work together collaboratively to deliver outcomes for our people, clients and stakeholders.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of the role is to implement safety initiatives and programs relating to the Health & Safety Strategic Plan. You will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining best practice health and safety strategies and systems across the organisation.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring and support on health and safety issues across the organisation.
  • Ensure relevant health and safety legislative obligations and responsibilities are implemented and maintained across the organisation.
  • Develop, maintain and implement health and safety initiatives and programs consistent with SSI's health and safety plans, targets and strategies
  • Maintain a health and safety software system to initiate and monitor workplace inspection activities and health and safety audits on a regular basis.
  • Implement and manage risk management strategies and hazard identification.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety or relevant field.
  • Current NSW driver's license
  • 5 years plus safety experience
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety practices and processes
  • Solid legislative and technical knowledge in health and safety and NSW Workers Compensation
  • The ability to influence people at all levels to improve health and safety outcomes and organisational culture
  • Ability to act with discretion and treat confidential information appropriately
