The Social Research Centre is a leading industry service provider in the social research space conducting outbound telephone surveys with people across the country. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a casual role that provides insights into the attitudes, opinions and wellbeing of the Australian public.
We have several vacant positions within our interviewing team for those motivated and ready to contribute to quality data collection in a phone-based role. We expect there to be a couple of months’ employment available, and for those performing well, an opportunity to stay on. Our casual interviewers have the opportunity to work evening and weekend shifts, depending on project requirements.
You will be dialing outbound, conducting Victoria’s premium population health survey on behalf of VAHI which is an administrative office of the Department of Health and Human Services. This is a quantitative research survey covering a range of topics affecting the health of the Victorian community.
The Victorian Population Health Survey program was established in 1998 and collects quality information at the State, regional and local government area levels about the health, lifestyle and wellbeing of adult Victorians aged 18 years and over. The survey follows an established method to collect relevant, timely and valid health information which is applied to policy development and strategic planning.
Information is collected via computer assisted telephone interview on overall self-rated health status, level of psychological distress, body mass index (to determine weight status), the presence of chronic diseases, nutrition, physical activity, smoking and alcohol consumption. Information is also collected on community participation, levels of social support and connections with others along with questions about the COVID-19 pandemic.
A successful applicant must meet the following minimum technical requirements:

A successful applicant will need a sound-capable computer (can connect a headset with microphone using USB or audio jack) and preferably have a headset that works with your phone.
Smart Phone requirements:
Will need to be able to install the app ‘Microsoft Authenticator’
Software
Basic computer literacy and knowledge of Office 365 is recommended, and an ability to learn new processes quickly is desirable. We use CATI software to dial (for which training is provided) alongside Outlook, Sharepoint and Microsoft Teams as communication tools. Access to this software will be provided.
