General Manager - Triabunna

Spring Bay Mill

Do you want to lead the rising star of Tasmanian eco-tourism, cultural happenings and corporate events? Spring Bay Mill seeks a General Manager to oversee the latest exciting phase in a history spanning millennia.

About SPRING BAY MILL:

Once the world’s largest woodchip mill, the Spring Bay Mill outside Triabunna on Tasmania’s spectacular east coast is being dramatically refashioned into one of Australia’s leading conference centres, corporate retreats, wedding venues, performance spaces and progressive think-tank laboratories. Future thinking happens among the 43-hectare site’s artefacts of the past: ancient aboriginal middens and rusting 20th-century industrial machinery, framed against the backdrop of nearby Maria Island. We’ve turned The Mill from environmentally destructive hub into a place of creativity, reflection, storytelling, celebration and sensitively-regenerated landscape.

About you:

The General Manager will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing a strategy to attract local, national and international clients to our event-driven waterfront site. The successful candidate will drive the commercial performance of the business. You will lead sales, business planning while developing a close-knit and enthusiastic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver the Board’s vision for Spring Bay Mill
  • To drive strong commercial results
  • Be instrumental in driving the growth of both large and small events
  • To provide leadership and direction to the team
  • Regularly and accurately report to and communicate with the Board

Key Skills and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of General Management experience in event management, tourism and hospitality
  • Proven record of delivering a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Ability to collate and present data for use in a business context
  • High level of commercial acumen
  • A commitment to the environmental regeneration and a passion for the arts

We understand your skills, knowledge, attitude and experience will be rare, and will negotiate to ensure you are adequately remunerated. Relocation assistance will be considered.
