We are embarking on an exciting new journey to expand our services. To facilitate this change and growth we are looking to expand our executive management team with leaders who share our vision and values and who will assist in the design and implementation of our strategy.

The Position

The +WAVES (Positive Wellbeing After Violence EndS) program is a therapeutic support service for survivors of family violence. The program is delivered by a consortium, led by Baptcare, with the partnership of Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre and the Victorian Aboriginal Health Services.

The position will provide therapeutic support to families, children and adult survivors of family violence who are from refugee and migrant backgrounds. It will also provide expertise and secondary consult to the broader Baptcare and Spectrum teams in culturally safe and trauma informed work in the family violence space, specifically with people with refugee and migrant experiences.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Therapeutic interventions including individual therapy, family therapy, group support, mentoring support, advocacy and intensive case management
  • Working with children, young people and adults
  • Strategic Partnering, Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy
  • Service Promotion
  • Quality Service Provision and Data Management
  • Other Organisational Responsibilities

About You

You will bring to this position:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or related disciplines and experience in the area of migrant settlement or a related human services sector
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the community and social services sector in a therapeutic position
  • Demonstrated understanding of therapeutic approaches to working with children, adult and family survivors of family violence
  • Post Graduate qualification or working towards one in counselling/therapy
  • Competency in a relevant community language would be highly regarded

Your success in this position will be achieved through the following competencies:

  • Genuine commitment to social inclusion and valuing difference and diversity;
  • Ability to undertake therapeutic assessments and develop a therapeutic goal plan in partnership with the client, that reflects the individual needs of the client using a culturally sensitive approach;
  • Demonstrated ability to apply the Strengths Based Model in practice with clients and to engage families sensitively around parenting and family issues;
  • Demonstrated understanding of early intervention and prevention approaches when
    working with families
