Thank you for your interest in applying for the position of Youth Peer Support Worker.

The Youth Peer Support Worker will work as part of the headspace Adelaide Service. The Peer Support Worker will utilise their personal experience of mental ill-health and recovery to engage with the clients of the service. The Peer Support Worker will draw from a strengths based recovery orientated service of care and act as a role model towards recovery for people experiencing mental illness. In addition, they will work collaboratively with headspace staff.

The successful applicant will draw on the core values and principles of Peer Worker including:

  • Person centred
  • Mutuality and reciprocity
  • Dignity of care versus dignity of risk
  • Trust and connection

The overall aim of the Peer Support Program is to draw upon young people’s lived experience of mental health difficulties and recovery in order to:

  • Provide and hold hope, inspiration and empowerment for recovery
  • De-stigmatise mental health difficulties
  • Provide opportunities for young people and staff to benefit from collective wisdom

Ideally the successful applicant will have a certificate IV in Mental Health / Peer Work or equivalent, however Sonder are committed to supporting individuals reach qualifications required for this role and can discuss the incumbent working towards the certificate rather than already achieved
