  • Mental Health Clinical Candidate – Shared Care Skills Development Program - Full-time (37.5 hrs per week)
  • Working Location: Positions to be located at our Northern Office, Edinburgh North and our Western Office, Port Adelaide

Thank you for your interest in applying for the position of Mental Health Clinical Candidate within Sonder’s Severe and Complex portfolio.

The Severe and Complex portfolio provides supports to the path of recovery and physical health by delivering evidenced based clinical therapy as well as working collaboratively with consumers and their GP’s to monitor health needs. This exciting program offers recovery focused clinicians the opportunity to foster Personal Recovery through a focus on strengths, values and goal striving; creating increased hopefulness, empowerment, quality of life and wellbeing. Sonder is able to offer a tailored appointment schedule of 4 sessions a day offering the time and space to engage both clients and their support networks. Supports are for individuals diagnosed with a low prevalence, complex, Tier 3 presentation, including but not limited to Schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective disorder, Psychotic illness, severe anxiety, severe depression and Personality disorders. The clinical services provided within this portfolio consist of individual and group therapy, clinical care coordination and psychiatric case conferences.

As part of our commitment to Workforce Development Sonder is excited to offer 2 full time Mental Health Clinical Candidate positions through our Skills Development program. This position is a fantastic opportunity for a mental health clinician to secure a mentorship until 30/06/21 to further develop their clinical skills in the provision of therapy for people with a severe and complex mental health presentation.

Sonder will provide a structured career pathway with built-in support, supervision and continuing professional development. We will provide mentoring, debriefing, clinical and professional supervision throughout the stages of the mentorship including, observed and supervised practice. The incumbent will be exposed to all areas of the severe and complex portfolio.

At the end of your mentorship you will be competent in the delivery of specialised mental health therapeutic interventions for people living with a severe mental illness.

Applicants will have at least 12 months experience delivering focused psychological therapy and must have an approved tertiary qualification in an allied health discipline, including social work, psychology, mental health nursing, or occupational therapy, and be fully registered members of an appropriate professional body.

Furthermore, you will have highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships and a strong ability to work in a highly productive environment.

Please note that the internship does not fulfil the criteria for the 4+2 pathway for registration as a psychologist.
