headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. headspace has 108 centres across Australia in metropolitan, regional and remote areas, as well as online and phone support services through eheadspace.

Sonder is the lead agency for headspace Adelaide, Edinburgh North, Marion and Onkapringa.

Learn about the position:

Location: headspace Marion

Hours: 0.8FTE

The Youth Duty Intake Worker will work within a multidisciplinary team environment and will, as their primary role within headspace, complete triaging and duty work functions including the administration of Psycho-Social Intake Assessments.

Reporting directly to the headspace Marion Centre Coordinator, your responsibilities will be:

  • Capacity to conduct Psycho-Social assessments as part of triage process of young people referred to the service. Client plans are developed. In addition, completion of risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Co-Facilitation in Low Intensity Therapy Groups at headspace Marion.
  • Organising warm referrals to other services if headspace, Marion is not the most suitable service for the young person.
  • Assisting with duty work functions.
  • Assisting in wait list control interventions (during times of increased demand).

Experience requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience working within a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in conducting Psycho-Social Assessments for the purpose of triaging into mental health programs.
  • Working with youth, families, agencies and communities.

Qualification requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience in using the Microsoft suite of software and databases.
  • Approved tertiary qualification in an allied health discipline, including social work, psychology (clinical, and 4+2 pathway or 5+1 pathway), mental health nursing, or occupational therapy. Including eligibility for membership of an appropriate professional body. Social workers are required to be eligible for full membership with AASW. Psychologists, mental health nurses, and occupational therapists are required to have full registration with AHPRA.
  • OR, approved qualifications in Youth Work, Cert IV mental health, Psychology, Community Services
  • A minimum of two (2) year experience in working with people with a mental health condition in a non-clinical setting.
