About the role: 

  • Part-time – 5 days per Fortnight
  • Position available to be located at headspace Adelaide – Wakefield St, Adelaide

Thank you for your interest in applying for the position of Community Engagement (Centre Participation).

The Community Engagement Officer (Centre Participation) will work as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team to plan, organise and implement centre engagement activities for headspace Adelaide. The Community Engagement Officer (Centre Participation) will support the centre through community engagement and participation activities and develop resources that supports enhancement of mental health literacy and reduces stigma related to mental illness in the wider community.

The Community Engagement Officer (Centre Participation) will also provide education, service information and present on relevant mental health topics to relevant community organisations, including schools and other groups.

The Community Engagement Officer (Centre Participation) will also have responsibility for volunteer groups and committees including the headspace Adelaide Youth Reference Group, Talkin’ About Your headspace Youth Ambassadors, headspace Sessions Podcast (Adelaide) and headspace Adelaide Family and Friends Reference Group.

The Community Engagement Officer (Centre Participation) will facilitate centre engagement groups, developed with the centre’s Functional Recovery Team and Community Engagement Team. Co-facilitation of centre engagement groups will be supported by the centre’s volunteers and other centre staff where applicable.

This position sits within headspace Adelaide Community Engagement Team, which supports all programs delivered in the centre. The team sits within the broader Sonder Youth Services stream and has close working relationships across Sonder’s other programs, including other headspace centres.

About Sonder, Lead Agency for headspace (effective as of 01 July 2019)

What is the role of a lead agency?

Each local headspace Centre is led by a lead agency on behalf of a local partnership of organisations responsible for the delivery of mental health, drug & alcohol and primary care services as well as community-based providers of vocational assistance and training.

Lead Agencies are locally based and run services that are able to share the vision of a headspace Centre and ensure this is appropriately meeting the needs of the local community.
