Closing the Gap Indigenous Health Project Officer (IHPO) - Part-time to Full time (up to 37.5 hrs per week)

Position available to work within our Maitland and/or Port Pirie Office

We are seeking an enthusiastic Indigenous Health Project Officer who reside in either the Yorke Peninsula, Mid-North or Gawler/Barossa regions. The IHPO will join and be supported by the Sonder Closing the Gap ITC team. This position will cover Gawler, Barossa, Yorke Peninsula and Mid North region and will be based at our offices in Maitland or Port Pirie.

The Country Indigenous Health Project Officer will ensure there is a focus on Indigenous health and aim to improve the integration of care across the Yorke Peninsula, Mid-North and Gawler/Barossa regions. The IHPO will provide leadership on Indigenous health issues and be responsible for developing and implementing a coordinated team-based approach to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, especially between the IHPO, Aboriginal Outreach Worker and Coordinator positions.

The successful applicants will have experience in needs assessment and planning, developing multi-program approaches and cross-sector linkages, and implementing strategies to improve access to mainstream primary care providers.

The successful applicant must also have an understanding and experience in improving capacity of mainstream primary care to deliver culturally appropriate primary care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
