The headspace Adelaide Early Psychosis Clinical Director is a key leadership position in the delivery and refinement of operations of the headspace Adelaide centre. headspace Adelaide comprises a standard headspace Centre and the headspace Youth Early Psychosis Program. The headspace Adelaide Early Psychosis

Clinical Director provides clinical and operational leadership for headspace Adelaide.

The headspace Adelaide Early Psychosis Clinical Director will work in partnership with the headspace Adelaide Senior Leadership Team to establish, develop and manage the strategic and operational needs of this program to provide evidence based practice to young people and their families/significant others.

Other key responsibilities of the headspace Adelaide Early Psychosis Clinical Director are:

  • Develop the headspace youth early psychosis service in line with: the Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre (EPPIC) model of care; scaling up requirements of the service; and the strategic direction of headspace.
  • Develop productive relationships with community partners, consortium, the Adelaide PHN and Local Health Networks and headspace National Office whilst fulfilling all reporting requirements. Ensure headspace Adelaide functions as an integrated service.
  • Ensure the service(s) operates within a framework of continuous quality improvement and risk management.
  • Implement headspace Adelaide strategic and business plans.
  • Provide strategic advice to Sonder Risk & Finance Sub-Committee of the Board and the Sonder CEO.
  • Provide professional supervision to the medical teams.
  • Provide clinical leadership and clinical services to young people.

The headspace Adelaide Early Psychosis Clinical Director role involves the oversight of effective service provision and operation of headspace Adelaide services, particularly clinical leadership and governance of headspace Adelaide.

The headspace Adelaide early psychosis service will ensure provision of early intervention, responsive, and recovery focused care for young people aged 12 – 25 years who are at risk of or experiencing a first episode of psychosis based on the EPPIC model of care.

The overall aims of clinical care within the headspace youth early psychosis service are:

  • To detect early those young people who are experiencing, or at risk of, a first episode of psychosis.
  • To reduce the duration of untreated psychosis in young people with psychosis in order to minimise the impact of psychosis on the normal developmental trajectory of the young person.
  • To intervene early and effectively with young people at risk of a first episode of psychosis to prevent the onset of psychotic illness.
  • To provide timely, seamless access to service for young people at risk of, or experiencing psychosis and their family/significant others.
  • To enable both symptomatic and functional recovery from a first episode of psychosis.
