OVERVIEW

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing major Soils for Life projects, initially our new Cropping Resilience project, working to support Australian croppers to build soil and landscape health. The role involves coordinating the delivery of this project, which will involve all members of the Soils for Life team. The role will also be responsible for a range of applied writing to create clear and compelling content. The Senior Project Manager will be a key member of the Soils for Life team, working highly autonomously but also collaborating closely with the Management Team and all staff. We welcome applications from candidates located anywhere in Australia, and as a fully remote team we have well-developed systems to support remote work, as well as a Canberra office space.

TASKS

Lead and deliver a range of Soils for Life projects, including:

  1. Working highly autonomously, in consultation with the Management Team and working closely across the whole Soils for Life team to plan, implement, monitor, report on and coordinate the delivery of a range of projects.
  2. Leading or supporting the delivery of events and activities, including field days, webinars, workshops, meetings and podcasts.
  3. Applied writing to create and edit clear and compelling content across a range of deliverables, including reports, case studies, articles, flyers, website copy, project materials, media releases and social media posts.
  4. Managing up to three staff members.
  5. Engaging with and managing project stakeholders, including farmers, partners and contractors.
  6. Providing input to the design and preparation of project proposals.
  7. Liaising with other team members to ensure that project outputs complement and inform Soils for Life’s broader communications.
  8. Contributing to a healthy and supportive workplace culture and ensuring work safety strategies are implemented throughout project activities.
  9. Other tasks as directed by the CEO or manager.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Exceptional project management and organisational skills, with proven ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget
  • Highly developed applied writing capabilities, including the ability to quickly produce a range of written content that makes complex information accessible for a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent verbal communications, interpersonal and collaboration skills, and a proven ability to lead and facilitate teams of people, and work with a range of external stakeholders, to deliver shared objectives
  • Interest in and some knowledge of regenerative agriculture, and understanding of and commitment to Soils for Life’s mission
  • Ability to contribute to a safe and inclusive organisational culture

Desirable

  • Knowledge of agriculture, agronomy, natural resource management, agricultural extension, regenerative agriculture and/or agro-ecology
  • Knowledge of soil science and soil management
  • Knowledge of and networks within broadacre cropping in Australia
