The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity helping disadvantaged Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. We are now seeking a User Experience Designer to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager and working with a dedicated and passionate team, this pivotal role will support The Smith Family’s to deliver outcomes for customers including being responsible for consumer understanding (digital) to shape solutions.

A day in the life of a User Experience Designer might look like this, but every day can be different. Primarily, you will be responsible for:

  • Actively participate in scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives
  • Create digital prototypes that reflect user interactions and an understanding of design principles and processes (sketches of user flows, IA, site-maps, and wireframes)
  • Participate in test script production and testing of new functionality
  • Continue opportunities for research and other sources of customer data (analytics etc.) to inform direction
  • Be involved in the evolution of persona user journeys

It takes a special kind of person to be our User Experience Designer. Our successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Experience with digital design environments (for mobiles and desktop) including visualising user stories, ideation, flows, wireframes, information architecture and prototype designs
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Technical knowledge of standard UX software e.g. Adobe Xd, Optimal Workshop, Google Analytics, Optimizely, InVision, Mouseflow
  • Effective communication and ability to manage relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Knowledge of business value drivers such as sponsorship engagement, revenue generation, cost efficiencies and program effectiveness
