The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity helping disadvantaged Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. We are now seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to join our growing team.

Reporting to the National Manager, Corporate Partnerships and working with a dedicated and high-energy team, this pivotal role will lead a national new business development team and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships to secure long-term high value partnerships with corporates and major businesses, and achieve agreed individual and team revenue growth targets for The Smith Family. It’s a role for an influential leader, someone with a naturally engaging and effective style and who is deeply connected to our vision.

A day in the life of a Senior Business Development Manager might look like this, but every day can be different

Primarily, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the on-going implementation and refinement of all stages of the business development corporate partnership journey and activities that support it;
  • Leading and assisting the team to steward a robust, sustainable, qualified pipeline of new business and growth prospects through the corporate partnership journey to achieve agreed team revenue targets for The Smith Family;
  • Collaborating and consulting on marketing and communications requirements to supporting business development including pitch documents, proposals, presentations and thought leadership materials;
  • Leading, mentoring and coaching the Business Development team to deliver on all stages of the business development corporate partnerships journey with the highest quality and professionalism;
  • Regularly tracking donations and recording partner interactions through Connect and other systems as required;
  • Providing regular reporting to National Manager, Corporate Partnerships on agreed targets;

It takes a special kind of person to be our Senior Business Development Manager

Our successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline and/or demonstrable transferable skills in a similar or related role;
  • 5+ years’ fundraising experience in the NFP sector, preferably within corporate partnerships
  • Solid people leadership experience, with strong mentoring/coaching approach
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding financial targets by successful prospecting of new partners
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding presentation skills with strong influencing skills, including to C-suite stakeholders
  • Experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database Strong understanding of consultative sales and fundraising practice
  • Strong relationship building and networking skills
