The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity helping disadvantaged Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. We are now seeking a Project Officer, Communities for Children Facilitating Partner Katherine to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Project Manager, Communities for Children Facilitating Partner and working with a dedicated and passionate team, community stakeholders and building community capacity, contributing to The Smith Family’s vision.

A day in the life of our Project Officer, Communities for Children might look like this, but every day can be different. Primarily, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide administration and project support to maintain positive active partnerships
  • Provide logistics and event coordination support for project works that are part of the CfCFP role e.g. Professional Development Days or Community Forums
  • Assist in the development and maintains of data management processes for monitoring Katherine Region CfCFP area funded activities e.g. contracts, invoices and evaluation/data reports
  • Support the Community Strategic Planning process particularly through community data collation and recording consultation data
  • Interact in a positive manner to build rapport with networks within the community, especially the organisation and Government departments represented on the CCC.

It takes a special kind of person to be our Project Officer, Communities for Children. Our successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Social Science, Humanities or equivalent
  • Full current Driver’s License (or ability to obtain one)
  • Knowledge of the child, family and community services sector and service systems
  • Thorough understanding of Outcomes Based Accountability frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and apply capacity building methodologies across the community sector
