The Smith Family is a national charity that helps young Australians in need to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves.

As the Program Specialist, it is your role to specialise in the support and coordinate the successful delivery of iTrack within Western Australia. This is achieved through the centralisation of a number of aspects of the program delivery including human resources, program resources and program quality. This role provides leadership and guidance to the WA Learning for Life team around what successful delivery will look like and operates as a Subject Matter Expert within the region.

A day in the life of an iTrack Program Specialist might look like this, but every day will be different:

  • Ongoing support and management of volunteers so as to influence the maintenance of satisfaction rates and to ensure volunteers speak highly of their experience with The Smith Family and to retain volunteers year to year.
  • Work with Program Manager, Program Implementation to deliver iTrack program successfully; take initiative to provide direction to staff and volunteers and responds to challenges as they occur.
  • Monitor and report on participants’ program progress to Learning for Life Program Coordinators, and program representatives from partner schools and relevant community organisations or directly to participant’s parents/caregivers.
  • Support the development of required resources, both internal and external, including but not limited to promotional materials, training guides etc.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal relationships with The Smith Family team members across different levels and functional teams to ensure successful delivery of program.

It takes a special kind of person to be one of our Program Specialists. The ideal candidate will hold a:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting groups of volunteers with a “customer service” approach.
  • Demonstrated experience in program delivery.
  • Exceptional ability to establish, build and maintain internal and external networks and relationships.
  • Highly effective communication skills that demonstrate professional and appropriate language in written and verbal form for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to identify problems and communicate these to the appropriate people along with possible solutions.
