The Smith Family is an independent children's charity helping Australian children living in disadvantage to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. As we head towards our Centenary next year, we are now seeking an experienced Philanthropy Manager to join our growing team. This role opens up an opportunity for a proven Philanthropy Manager to establish a HNW (High Net Wealth) portfolio of partners (or donors) with The Smith Family, creating value for future students.

Reporting to the National Manager, Major Gifts and working with a collaborative and innovative team, the role of the Endowment and Philanthropy Manager is responsible for generating income for The Smith Family’s Endowment and other priority programs. The Endowment is a priority area for The Smith Family to safeguard the future education of disadvantaged young Australians and give philanthropists and visionary Australians the opportunity to create a named scholarship in perpetuity. The role requires an individual with the right level of gravitas to proactively identify new business opportunities and proactively leverage relationships to secure funding from high net worth individuals.

  • Manage and steward a portfolio of high net worth Endowment donors
  • Create persuasive proposals and acquittals to attract and retain donors to The Smith Family.

It takes a special kind of person to be our Philanthropy Manager. Our successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline or transferrable skills in a similar or related role
  • Experience in major gift fundraising and relationship management
  • Demonstrated experience working with Endowments is desirable, not essential.
  • Documented track record of meeting and exceeding financial targets by attracting new donors
  • Extensive experience of managing relationships with HNWI
