The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity helping disadvantaged Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. We are now seeking a Early Years Project Officer to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Team Leader Learning for Life and working with a dedicated and passionate team, this pivotal role will help manage and deliver of the Let’s Read and Let’s Count programs within South Australia and in partnership with the Department of Education.

A day in the life of an Early Years Project Officer might look like this, but really every day will be different:

  • Engage and partner with identified Early Childhood Centres, and deliver against the contract objectives i.e. numbers of trained Early Years Professionals, Parent and Child participants
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of Let’s Read and Let’s Count practices to ensure ongoing quality delivery
  • Contribute to the ongoing continuous improvement cycle of the program, including review and feedback on existing resources and processes
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, to ensure successful delivery of the project
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of project activities i.e. training sessions delivered, attendees, program resource orders and budget expenditure

It takes a special kind of person to be one of our Early Years Project Officer. Successful candidates will bring the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in the areas of Education or Early Childhood
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering professional training to adults
  • Demonstrated experience in effective project management and delivery
  • Capability to work independently to achieve identified goals and manage competing demands within time constraints
  • Holds a current driver’s license
