St Marys Area Community Development Project is a dynamic community based organisation committed to the principles of social justice. The team currently works with diverse groups and organisations within the St Marys area and is also involved in broader issues affecting Western Sydney and the Community Sector.

We are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified person to join our team as Community Development Worker. Primary responsibilities include identifying local needs, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and outreach services to St Marys and surroundings areas. Working with diverse partners and networks.

This position requires a Working with Children Check and Police Check prior to commencement of employment.

Duties:

  • To work and consult with local residents aiming to identify needs Community of St Marys and the surrounding areas.
  • Develop, plan, implement and evaluate programs/activities in response to identified needs, in conjunction with the Co-Ordinator and Management Committee;
  • Building and maintaining links with relevant or coordinate partners in all sectors to ensure plans are aligned and integrated with the programme priorities of Targeted Earlier Intervention.
  • Develop partnership with key stakeholders and service providers to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Assist with establishment and development of new services/groups/programs based on local needs.
  • Establish, promote and resource groups/courses aiming to foster Capacity Building.
  • Attend relevant networks and interagency in consultation with the Co-Ordinator, including the St Marys Interagency and Penrith Youth Interagency.
  • To actively participate in working parties for various events conducted throughout the year.
  • To encourage community participation in decision making processes.
  • Provide information, support and referral to local residents.
  • Assist the Co-Ordinator in the identification and completion of funding submissions.
  • To participate in regular policy and procedure reviews.
  • Ensure that the organisation policy are observed in all aspects of the service delivery.
  • Work with the Co-Ordinator to ensure the organisation is achieving its targets as allocated by our funding body.
  • Follow the organisation’s Policies & Procedures including Code of ethics and confidentiality agreement.
  • Present a monthly written report to the Management Committee.
  • To document program participation details of all group participants with contact details, emergency contact details.
  • Evaluate all groups/courses at regular intervals.
  • Promote the activities of the organisation through media, social media, website, interagencies/networks and the general community.
  • To participate in fortnightly team meetings.
  • To assist in the development of annual service reviews as per our Funding Agreement.
  • To complete fortnightly time sheets and submit to the Co-Ordinator
  • To complete monthly travel claim form and submit to the Co-Ordinator.
  • Other duties as directed.

Training and Development:

  • To participate in supervision sessions with the Co-Ordinator (frequency of sessions will be negotiated)
  • To participate in an annual Staff Appraisal.
  • To undertake relevant training.
  • To participate in organisational and team development and planning sessions.
