The Position

St John of God social Outreach, Community Mental Health (Victoria) are currently seeking a Manager of Community Mental Health to join the Community Mental Health Leadership team. The Role of the Community Mental Health Manager supports and maintains a framework for social outreach activity within Social Outreach services, which will include strategic development, regional service planning growth and delivery of community mental health services across Warrnambool and Ballarat. This includes:

  • General Counselling
  • Youth Health 16-25 years
  • Group programs
  • Psychiatric support

This fantastic opportunity will be offered on a permanent full time basis, working 76 hours per fortnight.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Possession of a Tertiary qualification relevant to the role, such as Social Work or Psychology and/or professional registration in a social, behavioural or health sciences field.
  • Demonstrated significant depth of understanding and experience of working with communities to develop social capital.
  • Ability to lead strategic service planning and to manage the establishment and implementation of new services.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to engage with, relate to and negotiate with other health professionals, clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated administrative skills and ability in the management of financial, physical and human resources.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in establishing and/or maintaining safe practice in community based setting.
