Shooting Stars is looking for a contract researcher to undertake quantitative data analysis for its pilot program Seven Sisters. Seven Sisters is a ten-week module which enables participants to build emotional regulation strategies, develop healthy relationships, and mitigate bullying behaviours, while learning netball skills. The contract researcher will:

  • analyse pre- and post-program survey data from the year 5 and 6 program which rolled out across Shooting Stars sites in 2021;
  • make recommendations to the Seven Sisters program team to adapt the program based on analysis of results;
  • produce reports (both internal and external); and,
  • develop surveys for two high school programs and improve the primary school surveys.

Our other essential criteria include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SPSS or similar statistical software;
  • Demonstrated academic writing skills;
  • Competent in the use of Information Technology;
  • Ability to work independently and part of a broader team

Desirable criteria include:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field or experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrated experience in working within the education, health, or sporting contexts
  • Demonstrated experience in developing resources for young people and/or people for whom English is a second language
  • A commitment to and experience in advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation through provision of services to rural and remote communities
  • Proven relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

Hours of Work: This role is a contract position with hours to be negotiated - maximum 50 hours per fortnight until 31 Dec 2021.

An appropriate hourly rate will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
