About the organisation

The Pinnacle Foundation is a national charity that provides educational scholarships, mentoring and opportunities for young LGBTIQ+ Australians to realise their full potential and overcome challenges arising from their identity. Its vision is for a more diverse and inclusive society with visible LGBTIQ+ role models. Following the growth of scholarships provided by Pinnacle and near doubling of the number of scholars supported over the past two years, a role has been created for a (national) Scholar and Mentor Manager to join the circa 150 skilled volunteers and under 3 (FTE) staff.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, the Scholar and Mentor Manager is responsible for the attraction, selection and ongoing engagement of suitable (volunteer) mentors, and the selection (as a key member of the National Scholar Selection Committee) and ongoing engagement/management of scholars. They will conduct bi-annual scholar and mentor reviews, plan and deliver relevant and high-quality virtual engagement and development initiatives, oversee a national network of skilled volunteers (mentor and scholar leads across states/territories), manage scholar health and wellbeing initiatives, and draft materials for inclusion in donor/partner reports and for the Board.

About you

You bring Australian public tertiary education sector experience/ networks combined with experience supporting marginalised and disadvantaged young adults to develop their careers and lives. You are insightful, emotionally intelligent and an outstanding communicator. You exhibit the skills, judgment, genuine interest, warmth, necessary gravitas and follow-through to inspire and support scholars, and attract and retain volunteers (including mentors), while actively seeking opportunities to improve the quality, richness, and outcomes of the Pinnacle program and to create more efficient ways of working. You will be a member of the LGBTIQ+ community or a strong ally with deep community connections and experience.
