the opportunity

Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT (SHFPACT) is Canberra's community sexual health promotion charity, working to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights. We're growing and diversifying the suite of programs in health education in schools and community settings, health promotions projects including work with youth peer educators, and workforce development and training across the health, education and community services sectors.

We are looking for a diverse set of skills and experience for multiple new positions. We will positively consider part-time/job-share arrangements, although a full-time position may be available for applicants with the right mix of skills, experience, qualifications and aptitude to work across a dynamic set of programs and services.

If you have relevant experience in:

  • Teaching or learning support in school settings
  • Health promotion or adult community education, including group facilitation
  • Disability self-advocacy and disability support services
  • Communications and campaigns
  • Sexual violence prevention and response, out-of-home care and child protection
  • Counselling or case management
  • Vocational training and assessment, learning design and online learning program development
  • Policy/research to practice initiatives in a relevant field

We're looking for people who can:

  1. Confidently apply and adapt your skills and experience to sexual and reproductive health and rights priorities
  2. Demonstrate a commitment to working in a client-centred, rights-based, pro-choice and comprehensive lifelong sexuality and relationships education approach
  3. Translate your lived experience into health promotion projects and health information resources that serve priority populations, including the health information and health education needs of people with disability
  4. Translate practical experience into engaging workforce development training course and activities, both in person and online
  5. Identify and pursue opportunities to develop and improve their skills through ongoing professional development
  6. Work positively and effectively as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team of clinical healthcare, education & training, policy, and administrative professionals

SHFPACT community education and health promotion officers earn in the range of $74,100 - $103,750 (FTE, pro rata for part-time positions) + superannuation + competitive salary packaging, depending on skills, experience and qualifications in line with the position classification structure in the enterprise agreement.
