ShelterBox Australia is an affiliate office of the ShelterBox Trust, an international disaster relief charity that provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to support communities around the world overwhelmed by disaster and humanitarian crisis. The main function of ShelterBox Australia is to undertake fundraising activities and promote brand awareness nationally.

Join a dynamic global team with the aim of ensuring that no family goes without shelter following disaster. Support the CEO and our small staff in achieving their mission. Applicants with experience in charity law, fundraising or marketing are encouraged. Previous experience as a director is not required but will be highly regarded. Induction and ongoing training will be provided.

General Board Member Role

Regularly attend board meetings and important related meetings.

  • Make a serious commitment to participate actively in committee work.
  • Volunteer for and willingly accept assignments and complete them thoroughly and on time.
  • Stay informed about committee matters, prepare well for meetings, and review and comment on minutes and reports.
  • Get to know other committee members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.
  • Be an active participant in the committee's annual evaluation and planning efforts.
  • Participate in fundraising for the organisation.
