Operating for more than 30 years, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, SGS provides independent advice to our clients, typically in the for-purpose sector and all tiers of Government, across four key areas of service:

  • Economic and social analysis
  • Urban planning, policy, and governance
  • Infrastructure and facilities planning
  • Data and spatial analysis

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

SGS is governed by a board of seven directors. This includes:

  • Five executive directors, and
  • Two non-executive directors (NED), one of whom is an independent chair.

The appointment will be for a period of three years to replace one of the departing NEDs, with this potentially extended for an additional three-year period.

Board meetings are held 6 times a year at one of the company’s offices in Melbourne, Sydney, or Canberra. Professional fees are paid for the role, commensurate with the mid-tier scale of SGS.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Previous board experience as a NED, and preferably with Chair experience
  • Significant consulting industry experience, serving public sector or for purpose private sector clients nationally and in SGS’s targeted growth markets
  • Consulting industry market knowledge and networks, particularly in the areas of Housing, Employment, Health, Education, Transport and ESG.
  • Experience in data driven consulting advice and digital based delivery of services
  • Expertise in:
    • guiding company growth organically and via strategic alliances & partnerships
    • driving innovation and technological solutions in the consulting industry
    • financial management
    • legal compliance and company secretary duties

Preference will be given to individuals:

  • Residing in Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra given they are SGS’s office locations and targeted growth markets
  • With networks/ skills in complementary areas (Housing, Employment, Health, Education, Transport and ESG, data/digital)
