The role

This role uses a recovery-oriented approach to support existing NPS-T (Transition) consumers in South East NSW to:

  • Test eligibility for access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Receive Continuity of Support (CoS) services through 1:1, group-based or centre-based delivery.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Actively support consumers to:
  • Apply for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Engage with the NDIS, if found eligible.
  • Deliver the CoS program through 1:1 support, group-based and centre-based supports
  • Maintain consumer and other service delivery records
  • Actively contribute as a member of the self-organising team

The NPS Intensive Worker is a level 3 position and in addition to the above responsibilities will be experienced to:

  • Provide support for consumers with complex and high intensity needs
  • Support people with a psychosocial disability to apply for the NDIS
  • Exercise initiative and independence, as required

What we are looking for

  • A Certificate III or IV in mental health, disability or related field
  • Previous experience in applying a recovery-based approach to support individuals recovering from severe and persistent mental illness
  • Ability to work independently, within clear timeframes
  • Ability to communicate collaboratively with team members and all stakeholders specific to this position
  • Ability to exercise personal responsibility and work as part of team, with the support and
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft programs or similar, and the capability to learn other applications.
