ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Aged Care Team Leader will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key tasks and duties.

Leading and managing SETAC’s Aged Care Service to ensure quality and professional services are provided that meet the needs of SETAC’s Executive, clients, funding bodies and other service providers, in accordance with contractual requirements.

Budget

  • With the CEO, manage financial costings, budget plans and negotiation of external contracts for SETAC’s Aged Care Service and monitor budget versus actual for these services/programs.

Staffing

  • Ensure SETAC’s aged care workforce is appropriately qualified, supported and supervised to meet Aged Care Quality Standards, the needs of the clients and any industrial or employee relations issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals for staff that report directly to the position.
  • Develop an annual training plan for the aged care workforce and oversee its implementation.

Compliance

  • Manage complaints according to organisational policy and procedure.
  • Undertake reporting requirements, including DEX reports, reconciling and submitting Medicare claims.
  • Monitor and coordinate quality assurance, risk and compliance within Aged Care Standards, and state and federal legislation.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the currency of all specific policies and procedures relating to Aged Care and contribute to the annual review and updating of the SETAC policy and procedure manual.
  • Conduct research and report to CEO on developing trends within the aged care industry.

Leadership

  • Participate in SETACs Senior Leadership Team, to provide lateral support and guidance on strategy, policy and procedure, finances, human resources, resource management, continuous quality improvement and workplace health and safety.
  • At meetings make positive contributions to represent the aims and directions of SETAC and its members.
  • Represent SETAC at various government, non-government, community and stakeholder local meetings/forums and conferences.
  • Assist in the monitoring and coordination quality assurance, risk and compliance in accordance with relevant standards and legislation and the development, implementation and maintenance the SETACs policy and procedure manual.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Demonstrated experience managing a small to medium sized community-based aged care and/or health service offering a variety of client-focused, outcomes-based programs, preferably with quality assurance accreditation.
  2. Financial management experience including the ability to prepare financial costings for programs against funding agreements and assist with budget preparation and monitoring of budget versus actuals.
  3. Previous experience managing and leading small teams including conflict resolution, performance management and staff development in accordance with relevant Award and Industrial Relations requirements.
  4. Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, along with experience building and managing positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. A sound understanding of risk management and compliance requirements in relation to work health and safety and the aged care industry, including recommending and implementing risk mitigation strategies associated with incident reporting.
  6. Previous experience conducting research, analysing data and writing reports to meet contractual requirements from funding bodies, coordination of stakeholders and operational reports to Executive.
