  • Part Time Fixed Term Contract – 22hrs per week
  • Commencement 1 Oct 2021 – End of current funding period (30 June 2025 with possibility of extension pending future funding).
  • Salary range: SCHADS Award Level 3.1

South Eastern Community Connect is a community based not for profit organisation that has operated for over 41 years. SECC provides local communities with information, referral, support and a diverse range of community services. 

We are looking for a person with high level of people and communication skills and demonstrated experience in children and family support to work in our family support team.

The Youth & Family Worker will contribute to the operational objectives of the workplace and work collaboratively in a team environment across the Randwick, City of Sydney and Bayside LGA’s to create outcomes in accordance with the Target Earlier Intervention Program priority areas across multiple work sites. Facilitate parent information sessions as well as providing case management to youth, families and children in response to their individual needs as they arise.

Selection Criteria

Essentials

  • Relevant three year degree with one year relevant experience in Social Work or equivalent
  • Experience and knowledge of youth services, family services, including parenting programs and issues
  • Experience and knowledge of case management of families, children and youth. 
  • Experience in delivering client focused direct service to youth and families.
  • Previous experience in community development roles working with people who have experienced marginalisation, disadvantage or vulnerabilities such as but not limited to; mental health concerns, AOD concerns, social isolation and financial disadvantaged, migration, Domestic or Family Violence, Educational or employment concerns, family breakdown or parenting concerns etc. with diverse demographics.
  • Demonstrated ability to network and work co-operatively with other organisations
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a varied work environment and across multiple work sites.
  • Demonstrated Experience in contributing towards the development of work methods and the setting of outcomes for the effective delivery of community programs and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide administrative support of a complex nature to senior employees e.g. Grant writing including basic research or collection of data, outcome framework development etc.  Ability to apply computer programming knowledge and skills in systems development, maintenance and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and produce promotional material or strategies which supports the delivery of community programs.
  • Current Drivers licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle.

 Desirable  

  • Qualified facilitator in youth programs and/or parenting programs such as RAAG/MAAD, No Scaredy Cats, 123 Magic
  • Previous experience in establishing, resourcing, facilitating and supporting early intervention approaches to support community groups of people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated experience in group work and community program facilitation in multiple locations
  • Ability to facilitate community events and festivals which inform, engage and resource individuals.
  • Previous experience in programme planning, development, reporting and evaluation for individuals across the whole community sector (e.g. youth, families, whole community etc.)
  • Experience in empowering individuals/communities to actively participate in and lead community activities and initiatives.
  • Ability to speak a community language.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting the South East Sydney region.
