South-east Sydney charity South Eastern Community Connect is seeking a Family and Community Worker to work full-time (38 hours per week) at Mascot.

Starting from the 6th July 2020, you will contribute to the operational objectives of the workplace and work collaboratively in a team environment across the Randwick, City of Sydney and Bayside LGAs to create community connections in accordance with the Targeted Earlier Intervention (TEI) Program priority areas across multiple work sites, as well as providing direct care services to families, children and youth in response to individual needs as they arise.

Selection Criteria

Essentials

  • Relevant three-year degree with one-year relevant experience in Community Development, Social Work or equivalent.
  • Experience and knowledge of case management of families, children and youth. 
  • Experience in delivering client-focused direct service to families.
  • Previous experience in community development roles working with people who have experienced marginalisation, disadvantage or vulnerabilities such as but not limited to: mental health concerns, AOD concerns, social isolation and financial disadvantaged, migration, domestic or family violence, educational or employment concerns, family breakdown or parenting concerns, etc, with a diverse demographic group.
  • Demonstrated ability to network and work cooperatively with other organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a varied work environment and across multiple work sites.
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing towards the development of work methods and the setting of outcomes for the effective delivery of community programs and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide administrative support of a complex nature to senior employees e.g. grant writing, including basic research or collection of data, outcome framework development etc. 
  • Ability to apply computer programming knowledge and skills in systems development, maintenance and implementation.
  • Previous experience in establishing, resourcing, facilitating and supporting early intervention approaches to support community groups of people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in group work and community program facilitation in multiple locations.
  • Ability to facilitate community events and festivals which inform, engage and resource individuals.
  • Previous experience in program planning, development, reporting and evaluation for individuals across the whole community sector (e.g. youth, families, whole community etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and produce promotional materials or strategies which support the delivery of community programs.
  • Current driver’s licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle.
  • Experience in empowering individuals/communities to actively participate in and lead community activities and initiatives.

Desirable

  • Ability to speak a community language.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting the South East Sydney region.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employment is a full-time fixed-term contract as per contract (38 hours a week).
  • The terms and conditions of employment are those applying under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) Award 2010 in conjunction with the National Employment Standards.
  • All employees of South Eastern Community Connect are bound by the properly approved policies and procedures of the organisation.
  • The employee is engaged as a probationary employee during an initial probationary period of six [6] months.
  • Your employment at the South Eastern Community Connect is conditional to a Criminal Records Check under the legislation.
  • It is a condition of your employment that you must be fit to perform the inherent requirements of your position at SECC. Throughout your employment, SECC may require you to undergo further medical assessments either as precautionary measures or in the event that a matter relating to your fitness to work arises. It is a condition of your employment that you consent to the medical examiner providing reports about your fitness for work to SECC.
  • Up-to-date copies of the award, conditions of employment, policies and procedures are held in the office of South Eastern Community Connect.
