Selby Community House is situated amongst the unique and significant Bushland surrounds of Minak Reserve within the Selby Community. Serving the community since 1975, our Community House offers opportunities through formal/ informal avenues for community participation at a local level. It provides a place which brings people together, through classes, meetings, social or community events.

THE ROLE

This is an ongoing part time position 26 hours per week. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Neighbourhood House & Adult Community Education Centres Collective Agreement 2016, Level 6 Class II(b).

The Selby Community Manager is responsible for the day to day management and financial supervision of Selby Community House Inc. and to oversee the development and delivery programs and activities that meet the educational, vocational and recreational needs of the local community. 

The position will develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally with the Committee of Management, staff, tutors and volunteers and also within the broader community. This will include representing Selby Community House within the service sector, working cooperatively with Local, State & Federal Government departments and active participation in relevant networks.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in public sector management, community development, social science or related field
  • Minimum of 3 yrs. experience working in a management or leadership role in a community setting
  • Demonstrated experience in staff management and providing strategic leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound financial management within an organisation
  • Highly developed written and oral communication, negotiation skills, reporting and grant application writing
  • Experience in developing effective networks and partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge and ability to use word and processing systems and software packages such as Microsoft.
