Renew Australia
  • Influential, respected NFP
  • Promote sustainable living
  • Drive growth and impact

Renew Australia (formerly known as Alternative Technology Association) is a national, not-for-profit organisation that inspires, enables and advocates for people to live sustainably in their homes and communities. Established in 1980, Renew provides expert, independent advice on sustainable solutions for the home to households, government and industry. They have helped thousands of households save money and reduce their environmental footprint with information on energy efficiency, solar power, rainwater tanks, materials reuse and waste.

Reporting to a highly skilled and committed Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead the organisation to deliver the vision and strategic direction of Renew as it continues to influence the behavioural change of consumers and communities to improve responses to climate change in a practical and sustainable way. The CEO will ensure that Renew operates efficiently and effectively, applying sound business principles to the operations, whilst exploring opportunities for membership growth, thought leadership, and innovative ways to influence communities and decision-makers. As the ‘face and voice’ of Renew, the CEO will also be responsible for building, promoting and strengthening partnerships with government, and relevant sector and community stakeholder groups to drive sustainable living initiatives nationally. Renew has an ambitious Strategy with a focus on structured growth and impact supported by a number of capacity-building investments to enable its success. The new CEO will be responsible for building on the significant reputation and achievements of Renew and further enhancing the organisation as a respected leader in this field.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced, strategic, authentic and pragmatic leader, who has strong financial, brand management, and sophisticated stakeholder skills to lead an organisation at the forefront of driving sustainable living practices across Australia. You will have a strong values alignment to Renew and its strategic objectives and be able to operate in a sometimes complex, ambiguous and dynamic work environment. As a leader you will be inclusive, collaborative and credible, able to communicate with influence, inspiring confidence in the Board, staff and other relevant stakeholder groups, including potential members and philanthropic partners. Ideally, you will be experienced in working within a complex Board Governance environment as well as the input and strategy of a trusted and highly supportive Board. Key to your success will be your entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, and ability to identify, capitalise and deliver on the opportunities to grow, advocate and influence for impact.
