  • Initially offered 2 days FTE (possibly increasing over time)
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Community Housing sector

Moreland Affordable Housing Ltd (MAH) is a company established by Moreland City Council (MCC) in November 2018 to address the lack of secure and affordable housing options available to residents across the municipality. MAH’s constitution states that it will participate in innovative development and financing models and work with stakeholders, including the state and federal government and housing agencies to advance the development of affordable housing. The MAH Board is composed of up to seven directors, three of whom are appointed by the MCC and the rest, including the Chair, are recruited directly by the Board. The MAH Board directors are independent of Moreland City Council and are the only members of MAH Ltd.

The newly created position of Executive Officer will report to and work closely with the Board of MAH to establish the operational readiness of MAH, strengthen the relationship and implementation mechanisms with Moreland City Council (MCC) and ultimately deliver the established Business Plan. Key priorities and deliverables in the short term will be to engage with and develop relationships with the relevant stakeholders, including MCC, State Government and Housing Associations and then set up effective communication and operational systems that will enable the progression of a number of priority projects. The Executive Officer will also be responsible for the co-ordination of technical and professional services as and when required.

The Executive Officer is an establishment role that will suit someone who is self-motivated and prepared to roll-up their sleeves to perform a range of tasks to ‘get things done’, from providing Secretariat services to the Board through to preparing briefs and commissioning consultants and advisors to support MAH in delivering housing projects. You will need to be resilient, someone who enjoys working through ambiguity and solving issues and problems as they arise. Ideally you will have qualifications in a relevant area such as Planning, Property Development, Law, Engineering, or similar. Strong Project Management skills (ideally in housing developments) or similar, along with the ability to build effective relationships, influence a multitude of stakeholders whilst keeping a keen focus on delivering outcomes will be key to your and MAH’s success. In return you’ll find a highly skilled and supportive Board, flexible work hours and arrangements and a role that will provide the satisfaction of delivering to community.
