The Kiribati Facility (KF) is a key investment of the Australian Government in Kiribati, comprising the Skills for Employment Program (SfEP) and the Flexible Support Facility (FSF). The SfEP will support the development of a capable, qualified and mobile I-Kiribati workforce, and consolidates progress already made through the past investment in skills development in Kiribati. SfEP will focus on developing the Kiribati Institute of Technology (KIT) as a demand-driven training provider catering for domestic, regional and international labour markets and aligning the source, level and rigour of qualifications accordingly.

The Pacific Technical Assistance Mechanism Phase II (PACTAM2) recruits, mobilises and supports Advisers requested through Partner Governments in eight Pacific Island countries. See pactam2.com for more information.

About the opportunity

The Security and Risk Management Adviser is responsible for the development, direction for implementation, review and distribution of KF and PACTAM2 safety, security and risk management plans, processes and other related supporting documents to meet emergency, safety and risk management obligations relevant to working and living in Kiribati (and other Pacific Islands). The Security and Risk Management Adviser will exercise specialist technical expertise and judgement to deal with issues related to emergency, safety and risk management documentation/planning and must be familiar with the emergency, safety and risk management environment. In this role, the Security and Risk Management Adviser will create and maintain both formal and informal networks for emergency, safety and risk management within Pacific Islands and Australia.

The position is offered as a Short Term Adviser for a fixed contract period, starting ASAP.

Input days

Kiribati Facility- approximately 29 input days a year (including a 7-day trip to Kiribati)

PACTAM2- approximately 10 input days a year (may be more depending on incident management)
