The Position

NeuroMoves by Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) is excited to offer several Physiotherapy / Exercise Physiology positions as part of an expanding team across our Sydney NeuroMoves Clinics. Having recently relocated to a state-of-the-art facility in Clyde and St Peters, we are looking for experienced and knowledgeable candidates in the Neurological rehabilitation / recovery / exercise space who have a passion to work for a for-purpose, client centred, goal orientated organisation. The current team is made up of Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists and Therapy Assists. The role supports and assists a growing team of mixed-experienced staff in the delivery of complex exercise programs and therapy for the neurological population.

A Neuro background and 3+ years experience is preferred, but not essential with on the job training and continued education opportunities available. A passion to learn, expand knowledge in a developing workspace and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary and diverse team are essential. We will also be creating a talent pool for future, planned vacancies that will occur over the next six months.

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) is a member-based, national, for purpose organisation that promotes independence and provides services to people with a spinal cord injury and other neurological disabilities. Working together with our clients, our mission is to eliminate barriers that prevent social inclusion for people with a spinal cord injury, neurological conditions and other physical disabilities; ensuring that the society in which we live is accessible in every way.

SCIA's NeuroMoves provides a suite of exercise services for people with a spinal cord injury, neurological conditions or other physical disability. NeuroMoves is a client centred, goal orientated service working in the outpatient and community -based rehab space that offers the opportunity for people to improve their functional capacity, acquire new skills, prevent secondary health complications, increase their independence and overall health, fitness and well-being in a welcoming and motivating environment.

NeuroMoves has several clinics across Australia with a team made up of 50+ Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists and Therapy Assists nationally. NeuroMoves offers state of the art facilities and access to specialized equipment and knowledge to facilitate recovery and provide suitable exercise environments for Neurological and Spinal Cord Injury populations.

NeuroMoves prides itself on being at the forefront of evidence-based exercise prescription with opportunities for continued professional development and knowledge growth an integral focus for each of our Clinicians. Neuromoves offers a comprehensive education focus by supporting relationships with several universities, research groups, PhD’s, emerging technology and international affiliations. The positions are Full-time, Part-Time or Casual.

The EP/ Physio role involves:

  • Working as a part of a team to deliver quality exercise therapy sessions to clients with neurological conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, MS, Parkinson’s Disease, Cerebral Palsy etc
  • Working autonomously under the guidance of a supervisor to manage a case load of clients with varying conditions
  • Accurately assesses individual client needs and sets goals accordingly
  • Provide guidance to less experienced staff
  • Prepare reports/plans for clients, medical and health professionals and external funding agencies

About you:

  • Experience in working as part of a team, ideally in a rehabilitation or community-based setting
  • An ability to encourage and support clients with an empathic, positive approach
  • Strong written, administration, organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to adhere to work health and safety protocols and awareness of work health and safety issues
  • Ability to be involved in work of a highly physical nature
  • Passionate about working with neurological populations
  • Willing to learn and expand their knowledge set in the developing Neurological rehabilitation space.
  • 3+ years experience working with Neurological populations and managing a complex and diverse case load

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology / Physiotherapy
  • Accredited with Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) or Registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Proven clinical experience with excellent clinical reasoning skills (5+ years’ Experience) New grad applicants also considered.
  • CPR + first Aid accreditation
  • Working with Children’s Check and National police Check
  • Experience and / or Knowledge of National Disability Insurance Scheme
