Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) is a member-based national for purpose organisation that promotes independence and provides services to people with a spinal cord injury and other neurological disabilities to assist them to get 'back on track' and achieve their goals. Working together with our clients, we assist in the elimination of barriers that prevent social inclusion for people with a spinal cord injury and other physical disability, ensuring that the society in which we live is accessible in every way.

SCIA is looking for an outstanding experienced Neurological Rehabilitation Therapist experienced in delivering Activity Based Therapy and passionate about delivering quality neurological rehabilitation programs to join our NeuroMoves Sydney team.

NeuroMoves provides a suite of exercise services for people with neurological conditions. Our specialist program offers the opportunity for people to improve their functional capacity, acquire new skills and prevent secondary health complication. The program’s welcoming, motivating and supportive environment promotes elevated independence and overall health, fitness and well-being.

NeuroMoves is currently operating in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Lismore, Adelaide and Perth and our therapist team of 45 is comprised of exercise physiologists and physiotherapists.

The Neurological Rehabilitation Therapist duties include:

  • Provide goal orientated exercise and therapy to clients with neurological conditions under the direction of Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists
  • Provide clinical feedback and report any client changes to senior Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists
  • Actively participate in the organisation and planning of client exercise and therapy programs
  • Evaluate and document patients’ progress through treatment plans
  • Providing dietary and lifestyle advice and guidelines
  • Maintain the appropriate standard of medical record keeping and data collection
  • General administration assistance (as needed)

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to deliver the full suite of services and become trained in our high specialised program areas such as functional electrical stimulation, activity-based therapy and locomotor training.

You will have the opportunity work with other like-minded therapists and be trained to utilise highly specialised equipment and support networks in supporting your client to achieve their goals.

To succeed in the role you will have the following experience, attributes and capabilities:

  • Between two and five years’ experience in the neurological rehabilitation field.
  • Between two and five years’ experience in delivering Activity Based Therapy.
  • Between two and five years’ experience in delivering Locomotor Training or Body Weight Supported Treadmill Training.
  • Level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).
  • Proven clinical experience with excellent clinical reasoning skills.
  • Experience in working as part of a team, ideally in a rehabilitation or community based setting.
  • An ability to encourage and support clients with an empathic, positive approach.
  • Strong written, administration, organisation and time management skills and familiar with using a CRM system.
  • The drive to meet billable hour/revenue targets.
  • Ability to be involved in work of a highly physical nature.
  • Passionate about working with neurological populations, with a strong self-directed desire to continually improve their skills
