Relationship Officer - Development

Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) is looking for a passionate Relationship Officer to join our Development Team.

The Relationship Officer working within the Development Team is responsible for maintaining an annual activity program of key fundraising Gala Events, special private events, and support the Development Manager with identifying and prospecting new donors for donor circles. For Gala Events a key role is managing relationships and supporting key stakeholders; event management and production companies who execute event delivery, committees, sponsors and donors.

Specific Responsibilities:

Fundraising

  • Develop, maintain and identify opportunities to match high-capacity donor interest that maximises engagement opportunities and provides recognition for key partners and donors.
  • Build and maintain relationships, built on mutual respect, trust and engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including sponsors, donors, committees, patrons of events, staff of SCHF and SCHN.
  • Support production and oversee implementation of funding proposals, beneficiary support material, and sponsor and prize proposals.
  • Ensure fundraising activities comply with professional standards and relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage existing relationships and collaborate with other teams within SCHF to achieve financial outcomes.
  • Prepare and present reports as required, including expense and revenue reports and the monthly calendar of events and meetings.

Event Liaison

  • Maintain a strong relationship and clear communication with event management and production companies to ensure logistics and expenses are managed to budget, on time and event is delivered to the highest standard representing SCHF brand and reputation.
  • Communicate KPI requirements to team and manage responsibilities with Development Coordinator or volunteers for each event.
  • Support committee meetings for each event throughout the year, and provide support and guidance for stakeholder management, guest list development, and donor, patron and sponsor relationship management
  • Ensure processing and record keeping of donations, receipts and correspondence are handled in line with Foundation policy, procedure and service level requirements, current health advice and any relevant government requirements.
  • Implementing technology for payments and transactions for events with CRM team and banking in liaison with the event or production company managing event.

Business Planning and Administration

  • Provide administration support where required including ticket sales, database management, donor and sponsor correspondence.
  • Maintain and grow an active annual schedule of events in line with strategic KPI’s.
  • Represent the Foundation at functions and events as required.
  • Update CRM database in line with Foundation requirements.
  • Prepare and submit briefs to internal or external stakeholders for each event.

General

  • Demonstrating leadership, professionalism and a donor-centric work ethic including a commitment to SCHF vision, purpose, and competencies.

Experience, Qualification & Competency Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications desired.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role demonstrating a donor focused approach, with the ability to communicate individually and collectively to a group of donors.

Functional / Technical Skills & Competencies

Essential

  • High level computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook) and previous experience using CRM databases.
  • Demonstrated ability in effective medium to large project management delivery and overseeing events with substantial revenue generating targets, inclusive of planning, budgeting, promotion, deadlines and evaluation of events.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write quality cases/pitches for support and excellent presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people and organisations, make decisions, problem solve and negotiate.
  • Proven superior organisational skills including time management, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks for self and others.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively as part of a team and to collaborate across teams to achieve enhanced outcomes, including a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing circumstances, work processes and working hours.
  • Demonstrated high standard of integrity, ethics, judgement and confidentiality.
