Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health is a not-for-profit community health organisation providing a comprehensive range of free and low-cost health, wellbeing and community services in early childhood, youth, families, adults, aged and disability.

Covering an area of over 1700 km2 from Sunbury to beyond the borders of Macedon Ranges Shire our 280 staff and 100 volunteers are based across four sites at Kyneton, Romsey, Sunbury and Woodend.

The organisation has a proud history of delivering community health services to the region for over 40 years.

About the role:

Working as an integral part of the SCCH counselling team, the Family Violence Counsellor will receive referrals from a range of sources including; DHS, Integrated Family Services, Women’s Family Violence Services (Berry St), local courts and Police.

The role will also involve developing, (co)facilitating and evaluating a range of group programs for women and families.

Staff are expected to participate as a member of SCCH team and provide services within a social model of health that recognises the effect of social, economic, cultural and political factors and conditions on health and wellbeing.

About you:

Applicants will have

  • Degree level qualifications in social work, psychology or related discipline.
  • Experience in delivering therapeutic interventions to women and children who are victim survivors of family violence.
  • Ability to develop and implement trauma informed approaches and to implement flexible, creative, trauma informed approached to practice.
  • Experience in group facilitation.
  • An understanding of feminist theory and practice issues regarding violence against women.
