L2P Learner Driver Mentor (Voluntary)

Requirement:

  • Minimum of 2 hours per week
  • Over 23 years old
  • Full Licence Driver

The L2P – Learner Driver Mentor program provides the opportunity for young people under the age of 21 who face significant barriers, to successfully obtain their licence under the supervision of a fully licensed mentor driver.

L2P aims to provide access to driving practice for learner drivers who do not have access to a vehicle, or an appropriate supervising driver.

Mentoring is a powerful tool in building confidence and empowers young people to achieve their potential. Mentoring provides opportunities to meet new people, develop new skills and give back to the community.

Key Objective

The key objective of the L2P mentor driver role is to provide mentoring support to a young learner driver over the period of 120 hours in order for them to sit for their probationary licence.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Full Licensed Driver with reputable driving history
  • Over the age of 25 years
  • Well developed interpersonal, communication, flexibility and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team

Requirement of Volunteering:

  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 2 hours per week of driving over a 12 month period, approximately.
  • Mandatory checks including; Working with Children, Police, Vic Roads Licence Check to be completed and COVID19 vaccination certificate
  • Six hours of L2P Vic Roads Mentor driver training facilitated by L2P Coordinators at designated workshop sessions.
