We need you to work closely with them and encourage them to take the steps to become the best they can be. Where you come in:

In this part-time, fixed term position (4 days a week for 12 months, with potential for extension), based in Brisbane, you'll deliver group activities and individual support that aim to promote social behaviour and help to prevent juvenile crime. As part of our Bail and Order Support Service team, you'll work alongside our Save the Children Case Manager, our community partners and Youth Justice to provide advocacy, mentoring and practical support to young people involved with the Youth Justice system, supporting them to overcome barriers that may be contributing to reoffending and antisocial behaviours. You'll be part of our Youth team and report to our Youth Programs Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:

  • Supporting the planning and implementation of engaging activities
  • Building lasting relationships with young people from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Implementing behavioural management strategies
  • Creating a welcoming and safe environment to encourage active participation and program growth
  • Collecting and recording information for the purpose of accountability, evaluation and reporting

This role requires:

  • A minimum of a Certificate IV in Youth Work (or a related field), or progress towards
  • Ability to work with young people, often with complex needs, in a safe and respectful way
  • Strong time management, organisational and record keeping skills
  • Knowledge of the issues facing young people in the community
