Save the Children's retail network offers customers excellent quality recycled clothing, footwear, bric-a-brac, toys, books, and much more. Run entirely by volunteers, our shop network in New South Wales is rapidly expanding and we need you to join our fantastic group of support staff in the retail operations team. The role of Volunteer Coordinator is a vital and pivotal role in ensuring the success of our existing and future network of shops. Where you come in:

In this casual position, based in Smithfield, you will work on recruiting, training, and coordinating all volunteers and volunteer related activities. You will be part of our Retail team and report to our Retail Operations Manager.

You will make an impact by:

  • Coordinating advertising and other activities to source new volunteers
  • Processing volunteer applications and managing the volunteer database
  • Recruiting and selecting volunteers according to agreed policies
  • Conducting training and inductions for new volunteers
  • Ensuring an adequate supply of volunteers for existing and new stores
  • Supporting the retail network with administrative requirements

This role requires:

  • Previous experience in recruiting, rostering, and training volunteers
  • Strong ability to problem-solve and use initiative
  • Demonstrated experience in improving volunteer/staff engagement
  • An understanding of, and compliance with, organisational policies
  • A bright and bubbly personality with a can-do positive attitude and passion for retail
