No day is the same in Save the Children's Australian Services. We need you to lead our dedicated program teams to maximise positive impact on the lives of children and families. In this varied and challenging role, you will manage and develop our Family Connect and Support and Targeted Early Intervention programs across the Murrumbidgee area through team leadership, individual work, and group work. You will foster lasting links with the community and encourage active engagement with the services we are proud to deliver.

Where you come in:

In this full time fixed-term leadership position (until end of December 2023, with potential for extension), based in Wagga Wagga (with flexibility to work from home), you will demonstrate leadership, guidance, and supervision of your team to accomplish ambitious goals for the intervention support for families and children. You'll be part of our Australian Services team and report to our Regional Manager.

You will make an impact by:

  • Leading, developing, and motivating a dedicated and driven team across the Murrumbidgee area
  • Providing formal professional supervision to frontline staff
  • Supporting and monitoring programs to ensure we meet targets
  • Building relationships with the local community
  • Actively assisting staff to develop case plans, safety plans and providing feedback regularly
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders

Does this sound like you?

You're an enthusiastic and committed leader who understands that children's right to safety, survival, development and participation is core to the way we work. You're active, creative and flexible in your approach to working with families and children, using a trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally sensitive framework within communities and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You have a well-developed ability to develop and maintain partnerships with external organisations at all levels, and you can supervise, coach and mentor others with an empathetic approach.

This role requires:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Community Services or Social Work and/or significant equivalent experience in working with communities in the Murrumbidgee area (or a similar regional area)
  • Commitment to culturally safe work practices and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to build a cohesive and high performing team
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and an ability to work within a legislative framework
  • Knowledge of child protection issues and commitment to upholding the child protection processes
  • Current valid driver's licence
