That's why Save the Children stands ready to deploy, providing immediate psychosocial support and staying as long as it takes to help children and families recover from their losses, restore their lives and build their resilience for years to come. Our newly established Journey of Hope (JoH) program works with children both in schools and online in bushfire affected communities, led by facilitators who are professionally trained in managing child trauma. We need a passionate leader to drive our dedicated team to maximise the impact of the JoH program on the lives of children and families.

Where you come in:

In this part-time, fixed-term position (three days per week over six months, with potential to extend), you'll lead a team of facilitators to deliver the JoH program throughout Victoria (focusing mostly on the East Gippsland region). You'll work in partnership with schools and early childhood providers, ensuring high-quality service delivery in accordance with the agreed implementation plan. You'll be based in Bairnsdale and report to our Operations Manager - Journey of Hope.

You will make an impact by:

  • Overseeing the day to day operational and administrative requirements of the JoH program
  • Building successful relationships with schools, childcare centres and the community, including key stakeholders and other local service providers to maintain strong referral pathways
  • Providing regular leadership to the program team through coaching and professional supervision
  • Monitoring program contracts to ensure contractual obligations are met
  • Presenting JoH to key stakeholders to garner support for the delivery of the program

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with children and families who have experienced trauma, ideally including bushfires
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to nurture a cohesive team
  • High level of communication, relationship management and organisational skills
  • A degree or diploma qualification in a relevant field
  • Valid driver's licence and prepared to travel in the region

* While COVID-19 social distancing restrictions are in place, this role will predominantly work remotely (i.e. from home). Once the pandemic restrictions are lifted, the role will be based partly remotely (e.g. from home or on the road, travelling between delivery locations) and partly in our office in Bairnsdale.
