We need you to lead our dedicated program team to maximise its impact on the lives of young people in the beautiful Kimberley town of Kununurra. In this varied and challenging role, you will manage and develop the intensive youth mentoring programs in the East Kimberley. You will foster lasting links with the community and encourage active engagement with the services we are proud to deliver.

Where you come in:

In this full-time fixed term position (through to end December 2021), based in our Kununurra office, you will inspire a team of passionate and talented individuals to accomplish ambitious goals for our youth programs. In partnership with local youth justice stakeholders, these programs support targeted young offenders aged 10-17 to reduce offending. You will be part of our Kununurra Youth Team and report to our Regional Manager - Kimberley.

You will make an impact by:

  • Leading and developing a dedicated and driven team
  • Supporting the design, implementation and monitoring of the program
  • Building relationships with the local community and confidence in the program
  • Maintaining a case load
  • Providing practical support, mentoring and advocacy for young people and their families with complex needs
  • Organising successful back to country day trips and activities

… You're a highly flexible leader who is calm under pressure and loves to have a positive impact working with traumatised youth. You've got plenty of energy and a can-do attitude, which will help you make long-lasting relationships with disengaged youth and their families. Most importantly, you have a strong sense of empathy and an infectious enthusiasm for your job.

This role requires:

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to nurture a cohesive team
  • Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate activities
  • Experience in case management and working with young people
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and complex scenarios
  • Current valid driver's licence
  • Relevant degree qualifications in youth work, social work, social science, education, psychology, or progress towards (highly desirable)
