Our Supported Accommodation program provides safe accommodation and outreach for families with young children or during pregnancy. As part of a committed team, you will identify participants strengths and support needs for safety, parenting skills, well-being, and community participation. Where you come in:

In this casual position, based in our Ceduna office, you will work in the Supported Accommodation service fulfilling relief weekday, afternoon, or weekend shifts as required. You'll create a welcoming and responsive service that works in partnership with families to identify and build on their strengths whilst addressing any challenges. You'll be part of our Ceduna team and report to our Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:

  • Supporting the day-to-day operations of the service to provide group and individual support to families
  • Following plans and delivering activities that increase connection to appropriate early childhood development, community, and health services
  • Working with the Team Leader to help oversee, manage, and maintain the physical resources associated with the service
  • Ensuring children and families contribute their ideas, knowledge, and experience to influence program development and delivery

You are flexible, quick to learn, and friendly with a demonstrated ability to think on your feet to find solutions. Your relationship and communication skills mean you can work with people from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. You are happy to work shifts whenever you are needed are available and do not necessarily require regular work every week.

This role requires:

  • Experience supporting children and families who are in vulnerable or at-risk situations
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Wide availability at short notice with flexibility in your schedule
  • Child Safe Environments and DECD Responding to Abuse and Neglect Certificate, or willingness to obtain
  • A current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Health or Community Services, Children's Services, desirable
