Where you come in:

In this full-time permanent position, based in Carlton, you will work across the organisation to build our expertise and profile in humanitarian response including positioning our organisation as the leader on humanitarian response. You will work closely with the Humanitarian Director to ensure oversight of strategic programmatic priorities and the development and delivery of quality humanitarian programs.

You will make an impact by:

  • Advising on the direction of assigned programs to deliver the best humanitarian outcomes
  • Monitoring programs and ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget, and in line with program plans and forecasts
  • Liaising with DFAT, other relevant government departments, and private donors to raise our profile, raise funds, and raise our voice in government policy debates
  • Identifying opportunities for business development and design concept notes, proposals, and budgets
  • Representing Save the Children to media through television and radio interviews
  • Enabling and supporting Regional and Country Offices to deliver a rapid, appropriate, and effective response to humanitarian emergencies and deploy to emergencies in the Pacific and elsewhere when required
  • Engaging with Save the Children International to maximise our global humanitarian presence

…You are an experienced humanitarian with field experience and excellent analytical skills. You're highly flexible, enjoy working in difficult circumstances, with an ability to manage a varied and unpredictable workload. You're comfortable in a corporate environment and a field office and enjoy working within a team and independently. You are an outstanding project manager who can see the big picture and enjoys digging into the detail.

This role requires:

  • Significant and demonstrated experience in humanitarian response and programming
  • Sound experience in operational or programmatic functions (e.g. logistics, operations, technical areas)
  • Strong ability to analyse strategic trends and develop appropriate plans and responses
  • Experience in developing, reviewing, and tracking strategic plans
  • Proven experience in developing funding proposals and attracting funding
