When disasters strike, children are always the most vulnerable. That's why Save the Children stands ready to deploy, providing immediate psychosocial support and staying as long as it takes to help children and families recover from their losses, restore their lives and build their resilience for years to come. Our newly established Journey of Hope (JoH) program works directly with children in schools, led by facilitators who are professionally trained in managing child trauma.
We're ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children's rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We run programs in Australia and overseas and, if there's a disaster - like a bushfire, earthquake, drought or conflict - we are there on the ground.
In this full-time, fixed term position (six months, with potential to extend), you'll work in partnership with a Facilitator to deliver the JoH program throughout the Shepparton region. You'll work in collaboration with schools and early childhood providers, ensuring high quality service delivery in accordance with the agreed implementation plan. You'll work in the fire affected communities around Shepparton, and will report to our Team Leader - Journey of Hope.
… You respond calmly to crisis situations, and you have credible expertise in working with children who have experienced traumatic events. Your strong interpersonal skills mean you'll work seamlessly in partnership with a Facilitator, and you're committed to the highest standards of service delivery. You're proactive, creative and flexible in your approach to working with families and children, using a trauma-informed, strengths-based framework.
It's the feeling of knowing that your work is contributing to making the world a better place for children and working with others who feel the same. In addition to a connection to social causes, you will have access to:

Our inclusive workplace culture contributes to making Save the Children a great place to work.
