Where you come in:

In this full-time 12 month parental leave position, based in Carlton*, you will work on researching, analysing, and sourcing high-value philanthropic prospects to support our work in Australia and overseas. You'll be a critical member of our team which works with high net worth individuals as well as philanthropic trusts and foundations enabling us to maximise our impact for children. You will be part of our Philanthropy team and report to our Head of Philanthropy.

You will make an impact by:

• Developing an annual prospect research plan to guide prospect research activities with funding priorities
• Identifying prospective donor leads to grow the prospect pool in alignment with funding priorities
• Guide regular portfolio review and donor strategy meetings to collaboratively develop action plans for engaging, cultivating, and soliciting new and existing donors
• Responding to research requests (including due diligence) from relationship managers in line with service level agreements
• Maintaining the procedures manual and contributing to the ongoing development and implementation of donor and prospect management policy and processes
• Contributing to the global Save the Children philanthropy movement to monitor and evaluate current trends

This role requires:

• Demonstrated experience in a qualitative research role
• Experience of implementing Prospect Management processes, including developing strategies and systems to manage prospects throughout the donor cycle
• Highly developed communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to present information clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences
• Discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive donor information
• Excellent time and project management skills with strong computer skills including experience with a relational database

Position Description - Prospect Research Officer

*While COVID-19 social distancing restrictions are in place, this role works remotely (i.e., from home or an alternative location). Once the pandemic restrictions are lifted, the role will be based in our Head Office in Carlton, Victoria.
