Working with a global team of highly engaged education, publishing and technology specialists you'll use your exceptional relationship and networking skills to find and acquire illustrated children's books from around the world to add to our digital library. No two days will ever be the same as you methodically work across our existing network in more than 100 countries from Bhutan to Kenya and Indonesia to Madagascar to search the world for incredible stories that could change the lives of millions of children.

Where you come in:

In this part-time, flexible, one-year maximum-term position (with the potential for extension), based in your choice of location anywhere in Australia, you will build new relationships within our existing network to identify and acquire illustrated children's books for our class-leading digital library. You will join our people leaders' team and report to our Head of Program Services.

You will make an impact by:

  • Delivering a large and complex international book acquisition program to source and publish new books for Library For All's digital library
  • Developing relationships with hundreds of new stakeholders around the world to assist in identifying and cataloguing suitable books
  • Managing the design and implementation of the program, including the budget, schedule, strategy and reporting to achieve program objectives
  • Assessing catalogued books against a multi-lingual curatorial framework and prioritising books for acquisition
  • Negotiating with content and rights owners to acquire rights and original files for the publication of books to our digital library
  • Working with our Publishing team to digitise and publish acquired books

You are an exceptional relationship builder with a passion for meeting new people around the world. You have strong inter-personal skills, well-developed stakeholder relationship management skills and a flexible communication style including in multilingual environments. You have a strong understanding (or passion for) literacy development through your experience as a literary or educational professional, and equally strong organisational skills with a bias to action and a strong attention to detail. You thrive in a highly agile, flexible and high performing environment and you have a thirst for disruptive thinking, setting ambitious goals, and challenging the status quo. Importantly, you share our passion for delivering better educational outcomes for children using technology as an enabler.

This role requires:

  • Extensive experience in stakeholder management, network building or non-financial support raising
  • Extensive experience in volunteer management, ideally with a focus on language, education or books
  • Strong experience in literacy development for children in an education, education programming, development or aid field OR equivalent experience in a literary book publishing field such as publishing, curation, librarianship, OR comparable experience
  • Experience delivering programs in a formal program management structure
  • Demonstrated experience writing strategy, working with budgets, setting schedules and program reporting
  • Demonstrated success in delivering an ambitious program in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Desired knowledge or experience:

  • A working knowledge of the International Non-Government Organisation sector
  • Awareness of cross-cultural literacy needs for children
  • Understanding of copyright and intellectual property rights in a publishing environment
  • Experience successfully delivering program outcomes in multilingual environments around the world (ideally, virtually)
  • Experience leading innovation, negotiation, collaboration, problem solving

Desirable qualifications and/or accreditations:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Social Services, Business, Program Management, Librarianship, Education or Publishing

In this role you will have the opportunity to base yourself from one of our offices in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne or to work from home or an alternative location.
